Events Assistant

Purpose of the Role

 

The Events Assistant is an integral part of the team with At the Root Theatre. The post holder will deliver exemplary customer service to meet the needs of our users and business.

 

The role could include (but is not limited to): assisting at core workshops, working at our events and one off workshops, assisting at birthday parties and completing administrative tasks.

 

Terms and Conditions

 

Hours: Hours will be based on the needs of the business, but with the aim to build up to 16 hours per month.

 

Salary: £13.91 per hour 

 

The postholder will be required to invoice At the Root Theatre Ltd. as a self-employed freelancer. They will be responsible for paying their own national insurance and tax.

 

PVG Check: Recruitment is subject to the postholder holding a satisfactory PVG.

 

Health and Safety: The postholder will be responsible for being aware of current Health and Safety policies and procedures. They will attend training as and when required.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Liaise with the management team on the set up for the event.

  • Assist with the setting up and dismantling of the event set, props and tables / chairs.

  • Assist and liaise with catering team members regarding teas and coffees and any other catering needs.

  • Cleaning up after the event.

  • Reporting any health and safety issues before, during and after the event

  • Undertake administrative duties as required.

  • Engage and interact with participants, their families and other service users.

 

Person Specification

 

  • Have an interest in promoting creative activities and engaging children, young people and adults in the arts.

  • Have experience working with different groups of people including children, young people and the elderly. 

  • Be approachable and welcoming, giving excellent customer service to all participants and their families.

  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment where you have to think on your feet and respond to situations with a positive attitude.

  • Have a positive attitude and take initiative to solve problems.

  • Have experience or an interest in assisting drama and arts workshops.

 

Essential

 

  • Will be responsible for invoicing At the Root Theatre Ltd. for their work on a monthly basis. The postholder will be responsible for paying their own national insurance and tax. 

  • Will have a satisfactory certificate of membership of the PVG scheme.

At the Root Theatre Ltd. is one the leading arts providers in West Lothian engaging local communities in a wide range of creative activities and events. Established in 2015, At the Root Theatre Ltd. has established itself by working across different communities and engaging thousands of people in West Lothian. 

 

Over the next five years, At the Root Theatre Ltd. is looking to grow within and outside of West Lothian. We are looking for new members to join the events team as we are planning to host events regularly across the Central Belt, and beyond.

 

Our main activities are:

 

  • Core weekly workshops across West Lothian, and beyond.

  • Events and activities for children, young people and adults.

  • Bespoke projects across different communities and places.
