Matthew Swan

Creative Director

Matthew is the Creative Director of At the Root Theatre. He graduated from Queen Margaret University in 2018 with a first class honours degree in Drama and Performance. He is now a freelance theatre workshop facilitator and creative producer. Matthew has led writing workshops with At the Root, Star Harmonies and West Lothian Libraries. He is looking forward to starting a dedicated writing group with At the Root.

Rachel Flynn

Guest Workshop Leader

Rachel is an actor, writer and producer from Edinburgh. She is a co-founder of Interabang Productions. She is currently studying MLitt in Playwriting and Screenwriting. Her debut play Being Liza received five-star acclaim at Just Festival at the Edinburgh Fringe and went onto tour.

Rachel previously worked with At the Root on the Winter Series 2020/21 where she wrote Bubbly. We're looking forward to welcoming Rachel to Week 3 of our Creative Writing Series.
