Volunteer.

At the Root Theatre welcomes support in lots of different ways. Volunteering has been a massive part of our history and has helped us get to the point we are at now. We welcome volunteers at different points during the year including show time, workshop assistants and work experience / placements.

Volunteering with us will give you lots of positive experiences and opportunities. We have had students from Queen Margaret University and Edinburgh College have their placements with us and go onto work with us in a paid capacity as workshop leaders and assistants.

Making a difference.

Help put on a show. At showtime we need lots of backstage helpers to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible. You could be sorting props, making sure everyone is where they're meant to be, prompting or more. There are lots of opportunities to help out when we're doing a show. You can even get involved with design, stage management or making stuff if you're interested in that side.

Workshops. You can volunteer as a workshop assistant at our weekly workshops. We have a few volunteer workshop assistants and they are all absolutely amazing - come and join the team! This is great for anyone wanting experience of workshop assisting or wanting to see what being on the other side of a rehearsal room is like.

Placements.

At the Root welcomes students from school, college and university to do their student placements with us.

We have the capacity to take five placements at a time. Students will get an incredible experience of leading groups, observing facilitators and will get to network with likeminded people working in the industry.

We have previously worked with Edinburgh College and Queen Margaret University.

Please get in touch with matthew@attheroottheatre.com if you are interested in a student placement with At the Root.
