After the Rain is a short film produced by At the Root Theatre in collaboration with Cara Watson and Hannah Taylor Parkes. The short film looks at living in a post-pandemic world and overcoming mental barriers to survive. The film is being made in West Lothian by creatives based in the Central Belt. 

The film will be released in October 2022 at a launch event (date and venue TBC) and will be used to fundraise money for a local charity.

Hannah is a new acting graduate and emerging actor/creative with a passion for contemporary/classical drama, exciting new writing, and LGBTQIA+ voices in the arts. She has been active in the industry since graduating in 2021 from the MGA Academy of Performing Arts, and has been working alongside Untie My Tongue - an emerging female-led theatre company based in Edinburgh - on their exciting new play WOODED, which was showcased at the Assembly Roxy in Edinburgh in May 2022.

This is Hannah's first time working with At the Root Theatre but she has previously worked with Cara at Untie My Tongue.

Cara Watson is an actor and creative originally from Fife. She attended the MGA Academy of Performing Arts and graduated with a 1st Class, BA (Hons) in Acting in 2019. Since then she has co-created an all-female theatre company called ‘Untie My Tongue’ which she is excited to launch with their first production later this year. Cara loves to expand conventions within her work, whether it be acting or writing, she is always looking for new and powerful stories to shine light on.

Cara has previously worked with At the Root Theatre on our Let's Talk project in 2021, writing Becoming Dust which was performed by Shannon Davidson and directed by Matthew.

Matthew Swan is a creative producer based in and working across West Lothian. He graduated from Queen Margaret University in 2018 with a First Class Honours Degree in Drama & Performance. In 2015, Matthew founded At the Root Theatre with a group of his peers to create a space for emerging artists to have a place to create, collaborate and showcase their work. He produced and directed the Let's Talk series in 2021 which was viewed over 5,000 times across all of At the Root's social media. 

Matthew has previously worked with Cara on the Let's Talk series by directing Becoming Dust which was performed by Shannon Davidson.
